1. About this Privacy Policy

This policy explains how CraicNow handles personal information when you use craicnow.ie, the CraicNow mobile app and related services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect account details such as your email address, password in hashed form, display name, profile information, account role and legal-policy acceptance record. We also process preferences, saved and attended events, followed organisers, suggestions, reports, notification preferences and app device tokens where you enable notifications.

For vendors and organisers, we process profile, contact and event information. We also process technical and security information produced when the service is used, such as authentication records and operational logs.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use information to provide and secure accounts; show relevant events; save preferences and interactions; support vendors; deliver requested notifications; respond to support, privacy and deletion requests; moderate content; prevent misuse; maintain the service; and comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal Bases

Depending on the activity, we process information because it is necessary to provide the service you request, because of our legitimate interests in operating a useful and secure event-discovery service, because you have given consent (for example, device permissions), or because the law requires it. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

5. Location Information

CraicNow supports foreground device location, saved locations and locations you enter manually. Device location is used only when you request a location feature and grant permission. CraicNow does not continuously or background-track your location. You can deny or revoke device permission and use a manual or saved location instead.

6. Notifications

If you enable in-app or push notifications, we use your notification preferences, relevant event and location preferences, and a device push token to deliver them. You can change notification settings in CraicNow or your device settings.

7. Sharing of Information

We may share information with service providers that host, secure, support or deliver CraicNow; where you intentionally interact with public organiser content; when required by law or to protect rights and safety; or as part of a business reorganisation subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information.

8. International Transfers

Some service providers may process information outside Ireland or the European Economic Area. Where required, we use an approved transfer mechanism and appropriate safeguards.

9. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as needed for the purposes described here, including accounts, security, moderation, dispute handling and legal obligations. Retention depends on the information and why it is held. Data may remain in protected backups for a limited period after deletion.

10. Account Deletion

Until self-service deletion is available, request account deletion by emailing craicnowapp@gmail.com from your account email. We may need to verify your identity. Some information may be retained where legally required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

11. Data Protection Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection, and may withdraw consent. To make a privacy request, email craicnowapp@gmail.com. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity.

12. Complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You may also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission or another competent supervisory authority. Information is available at dataprotection.ie.

13. Users Under 16

CraicNow accounts are not intended for anyone under 16. Individual events may impose a higher age restriction. If you believe a person under 16 has created an account, contact us.

14. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so use a strong, unique password and protect your credentials.

15. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy as CraicNow or the law changes. We will publish the revised version here, update the date above and provide additional notice where appropriate.
